ALOG and DOSBox Installation for Windows Computers. About ===== These instructions list the configuration settings and basic commands required to install DOSBox and run ALOG when it launches. Working knowledge of Windows operating system is assumed. Please ask your local admin for assistance with running commands or adjusting permissions if required. ALOG Install =========== 1. Download and extract the ALOG program from http://www.dgrt.com.au/alog 2. Using a command window, change in to the ALOG installer directory extracted. 3. Run the batch file by typing in "install c" followed by return. This will install the ALOG program into c:\auslog DOSBox Install ========= 1. Download Windows DOSBox from http://www.dgrt.com.au/alog or directly from http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1 2. Run the installer if it doesn't start automatically 3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete installation 4. Run the Dosbox 0.74 Options program and continue with the following instructions. DOSBox Serial Port Setup =========== 1. Make sure a serial port or an appropriate USB to serial adaptor is installed with correct drivers. 2. Add the following line to the [serial] port section of the DOSBox config file. Ensure the realport parameter refers to the correct serial port (check device manager). serial1=directserial realport:com2 startbps:115200 parity:n bytesize:8 stopbits:1 Also Remove the dummy port line. Auto Mounting the DOSBox "c" drive =================== 1. Modify the DOSX box configuration, at the [autoexe] section to include the following text: mount c c:\auslog c: alog The above three lines will auto mount the local c:\auslog directory to the DOSBox c:\ drive Run DOSBox =========== 1. Close the config file. 2. Run DOSBox and ALOG will launch straight away. 3. Consult the ALOG manual to set the COM port to COM1 (this is serial1 from the above settings)
